only, unlike buddy the elf, the mall-santa we visited today was completely awesome (and so far as i could tell, did not smell like beef, cheese, burbon or anything else inappropriate.)
poppy’s first meeting with santa was a hit! i figured she may be, well, justifiably terrified if i tried to perch her in the big guy’s lap all by her lonesome, so i convinced david to seriously geek it up get into the holiday spirit with me by dressing up (down?) in festive pajamas so we could join p in the photo shoot. it turned out to be a great idea – poppy was able to get acclimated to the setting while i held her in my lap during the family shots, so when i slipped away for her solo shots with mr. kringle she wasn’t scared at all.
and so, i now share with you all the results of today’s photo shoot. the icing on the cake? i’m the proud owner of a disc of over 40 high-resolution photos, free of any copyright restrictions, which i can copy and print and post all over the internet to my wee little heart’s content! and all for under 40 duckets. i, for one, am calling this one a success. cheers, and happy holidays!

Where is this Santa you speak of?! I think we paid 30 bucks last year for two crappy pictures.
I LOVE the pictures of Santa reading to Poppy. Precious!
kirsten – the magical uncreepy santa can be found at the south hill mall in puyallup, right outside the macy’s entrance. the photographer and staff are super efficient and professional, and if you have the option of keeping every photo they shoot on a cd with unlimited copying rights for only 35 bucks! the other rad thing about going there is you can keep coming back until you’re happy with your shots – we broke it down into two separate sessions so p wouldn’t get overwhelmed, but you can do as many as you want until you get shots you like… AND the photographer was 100% fine with me making specific suggestions on what i wanted for the pics. basically i could not possibly be happier with how things went!
i know it would be a bit of a drive for you guys, but it’s well worth it if you’re interested in some great santa photos. if you end up venturing out this way to partake, be sure to message me so i can meet up and help out!
cheers!
they really are just too cute for words. what a happy family memory!
I love love love these pictures, Em!
The family ones turned out great and the solo ones with Poppy-OMG! No words! The reading ones are pretty much photographic GOLD!
Oh my word those are all SO CUTE! And yeah, that’s the most uncreepy Santa I’ve ever seen. Love the book reading shots!
OMG! these are too cute…an such a wonderful memory…all 40+ of them!!! what a cute little poppy!
These are pretty much beyond adorable.
I’m a bit jealous of your options as far as getting a disc with multiple pictures goes! We took Milo last wednesday and He loved Santa. Our Santa was amazing as well. BUT, they only let us choose one picture even though there were four, to-die-for pictures I really wanted and I got two 5×7′s for over $20. Boop!
I love the pictures of you three with Santa. I’d love to do it but I don’t think I would EVER be able to convince Mercer that it was a good idea. Santa Pictures=WIN.
thanks very much, all! i am beyond thrilled with how they turned out – i will absolutely be going back to that santa every time in the foreseeable future. and kristi – i was totally surprised when they said i got to keep everything they shot; i was totally prepared to pay the 35 bucks for only a couple of choices! and the crazy thing is, if we had wanted to keep going and try more poses and props, they would have let us, pretty amazing deal they’ve got there! i hope they never change it…
and hey, if any of you mamas want to swap santa shots of our adorable munchkins, email me your address and i’ll do likewise! cheers!
I love them!!! Such a great idea to get them in your xmas pjs! Poppy is a champ for not being scared of Santa :0)
