hello darlings!

this little tutorial is so completely easy-peasy i almost feel guilty even posting it. however, the final result is just so adorable and functional, i can’t resist sharing the crafty love with you all! i got the idea for this fun project from my pal emmie bee‘s blog, after seeing her make similar cake/cupcake stands for her lovely twin’s birthday party recently! (: so, to make your own cupcake/cake stands you will need the following simple items:

* plates in your desired size/design (i thrifted mine for $1/each!)

* vases in your desired size/design (again, mine were thrifted for just $1/each!)

* hot glue gun and sticks

start off by thoroughly washing your plates & vases. on a flat work surface, flip your plate over:

then grab your vase and apply a very generous amount of hot glue along the mouth of the vase:

flip the vase over, center it on the backside of the plate, and apply pressure to form a seal:

yay! almost finished!

once the first application of hot glue has dried, add one or two extra layers of glue around the tops of the vases to reinforce the seal. don’t worry if your glue application isn’t perfectly tidy; it won’t show at all!

allow to dry, then turn over! YAY! you’ve created a unique and lovely way to showcase your favorite baked goodies! i’ll be using my cake stands at poppy’s second birthday party next month, and probably at many future occasions as well! my favorite thing about this project (other than the actual stands themselves, of course!) is the price tag – i literally only spent 4 dollars to create these pretty treats, which feels like a huge bargain considering the cupcake stands i’ve seen for sale start at $25-$30 each! thrifty, unique, and environmentally friendly? ya can’t beat it!

do keep in mind these cake stands are definitely not dishwasher-safe, and are probably semi-fragile, so they should be handled with care. i hope you guys enjoy this simple how-to! and if you end up making your own version, i would love to hear about it!
